Dr. Adewale Alade - Special Guest of Honor of the event #BUGrad 2022

This year, we have the distinct honor of welcoming Dr. Adewale Alade, the Special Guest of Honor of the event #BUGrad 2022, for the largest attendance of our graduation celebration in our history!

Dr. Adewale Alade is the Associate Professor, Acting Head of Department, Urban and Regional Planning
Faculty of Environmental Sciences
University of Lagos, Nigeria

Dr. Adewale Alade is a specialist in urban mobility, transport planning and logistics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria where he currently serves as the Acting Head of Urban and Regional Planning Department in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences where he has served as the Sub-Dean. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. 

His research focuses on urban travel behaviour, urban mobility and logistics; and has taught for 18 years at the University of Lagos. His research career has taken him to over 10 countries across the globe and has over twenty-five published articles in academic platforms. He leads the Urban Mobility Group at the Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development, University of Lagos and serves as an External Examiner/Assessor to University of South Africa, Johannesburg and University of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban both in South Africa and some other universities in Nigeria. 

Dr Alade is an Urban Planning Consultant and Co-Founder of Vistaplan Consulting, an urban planning firm that has won several urban master plan projects including Oshodi-Isolo Model City Plan, Lagos, Badagry Master Plan Review, Redemption Camp Master Plan among others. In 2018, he served as a member of the Lagos State Transport Policy Technical Committee and led the Rail Transport sub-committee. He is a member of professional and research bodies including the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) and World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS).

His academic and professional distinctions include:  
Best Graduating Student in Urban and Regional Planning, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 1993/1994 Session.
Faculty Prize for Best Graduating Student, Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 1993/1994 Session.
Distinguished Researcher Award (Faculty of Environmental Sciences), Central Research Committee, University of Lagos 4th Research Fair and Conference.

Dr Alade is the Pastor-in-charge of Zone, Latter House, Lagos Province 29, the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
