Helping others

Image
"Helping others should be natural for every person living in a cultured society" Prof. Emmanuel Kolawole #ProfEmmanuelKolawole @BiblicalUniversity @BiblicalUniversityHome One of the easiest ways to help others is to simply share your knowledge.  Every day there is an opportunity to educate someone about your area of expertise. The number one rule of helping people should be to find out what’s actually valuable to someone. Some people may be a waste of your precious time if you don't keep the rule in mind. You may spend time and effort helping them with something that they don't even want help with. Make an effort to ask them where they need help, try your best and move on Helping others isn’t always easy. It can sometimes derail your schedule and cost you time, money and other resources. It can even be interpreted the wrong way. However, keep in mind they truly matter to you. Note: Helping others succeed can be your greatest success. PS: There are a variet

Embracing a new efficient system of learning.

Image
Over the years, in-person learning has greatly dominated the education sector, with online learning being relegated to the periphery. Online learning has been wrongly perceived by some people as inferior compared to in-person learning. To them, it plays second fiddle, and they hold the view that the quality of online classes is low, but nothing can be further from the truth. Most leading universities in Europe and America embraced online learning several years ago for what it is worth. Closer home, for example, degree courses are offered fully online at Biblical University such as Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and PhD, and our graduates have become reputable and influential leaders in both public and private sectors. The quality of online learning is equally good (if not better) when well executed. To demonstrate this further, take a look at what happened when the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world. University students in Nigeria were faced with an unfamiliar choice of

BE GREAT. SERVE.

Image
WANT TO BE GREAT? SERVE OTHERS. “Whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all.” – Mark 10:43b-44 What does it mean to be great? The world most often defines greatness through one’s accomplishments. Think back to ancient history when Alexander the Great conquered the known world by the time he was 33 years old, only to weep because there was nothing left to conquer. Later, Thomas Edison would have over a thousand patents to his name. Or, what about Einstein and his amazing discoveries in quantum physics? Still others might argue that real greatness is all about power. In Jesus’ time, Caesar Augustus was considered truly great because of all the power he held. In the modern world, you might look at the Oval Office where Presidents of the United States sit as a place of true power and influence. But is power what really defines greatness? In reality, anyone can become great. Perhaps not according

When Omotunde "Adaku" Adebowale — a graduate of Law from Lagos State University, left Law School, she wanted a career in the media industry. She approached many media outfits, including Channels TV and even Galaxy TV, but she was rejected. In fact, Channels TV rejected her because she could not pronounce "Arthur" — the name of the man who interviewed her. Galaxy TV rejected her because she was "fat" and had "an ugly face" for TV. Her parents wanted her to be a lawyer and were disappointed with her new choice of career that might fetch just a meagre income for her. But she never gave up on her dreams and started practicing pronunciation of words and names. She practiced law for three years but on realising her ambition, she enrolled at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Training School in Lagos, performed well, and was immediately given a Contract Employment with Radio Nigeria where she stayed for nearly two years before moving o

GOOD THINKING IS POSSIBLE

Image
GOOD THINKING IS POSSIBLE. James Allen, in his book As a Man Thinketh says, All that a man achieves or fails to achieve, is the direct result of his thoughts.  Do you believe that? If you do, you will place a high value on good thinking. It will become a priority in your life. Success doesn't come by accident. You don't stumble into it then figure it out afterwards. Whether you are a business person, doctor, a minister, pharmacist, engineer, a teacher, a parent, or whatever, your level of success will increase dramatically if you place a high value on good thinking. The better your thinking, the better your prospects in life.  Playwright Victor Hugo said, A small man is made up of small thoughts. People who don't develop and practice good thinking usually find themselves at mercy of circumstances or other peoples thoughts. They are unable to solve problems. They find themselves facing the same obstacles over and over. And because they don't think ahead they&
